Xbox 360 Slim Power Supply Fix / Repair

This video will show you how to fix an Xbox 360 Power Supply. I bought my Xbox 360 Slim a little over a year ago and it’s already malfunctioning. The fan stops working and shuts down my xbox. The green light on the power supply turns red and it shuts down. I contacted customer support and since I’m out of my 1 year warranty, they would have to charge me + shipping to send me a replacement power supply. I figure, might as well try to fix the one I have so that’s what I did. It did fix the problem of my xbox shutting off after a short period, but unfortunately, it’s still making a bit of noise. Better than nothing though.

Unboxing My Xbox 360 From Repair

Sorry for the low voice level, the mic on my webcam isn’t that good, and I was kinda far from the comp, so you will have to make your speakers full volume to hear something (if anything). Oh yeah. If theres a number of rude/offensive/just plainly stupid comments that are posted they will be removed, and a possible block from me :) (ACTUAL UNBOXING DOES NOT START TILL O:51)

I actually just figured out how to fix completely. The problem comes from the fan wobbling. I think this is due to a lack of grease on the fan’s shaft, either from not being put in at factory or just evaporating away. Anyway, all I did was put a small dab of grease (I actually used a pure silicone sex lube but I dont recommend that, its just all i had) and my 360 who used to be the loudest most annoying thing ever, has now been running for the last 7 hours and I have yet to hear a peep.

DwyaneWadeCounty February 1, 2012 at 12:51 pm

@jasonT0403 Yea, I prefer a PS3, too. The 360 I have now that I’m trying to fix is a peace of shit that I rarely ever played. I made the mistake of buying my original launch 360 and my first ever Microsoft gaming system. I also the mistake of not selling this peace of shit when I had the chance. Now I am trying to fix this peace of shit so I can sell it.

DwyaneWadeCounty February 1, 2012 at 1:25 pm

@tiffmilk88 The same thing I am dealing with my original Xbox 360. One night my 360 is working, and the next morning it doesn’t turn on. Microsoft support website suggested to try another power supply brick. On the other hand, someone on YouTube fixed their 360 by opening it and pricking some pins that belong to the power the 360′s power socket.

First, I’m going to try another power brick. If that doesn’t work, I’m going to open up my 360.

MrJoechester1236 February 1, 2012 at 2:05 pm

this happens to my xbox 360 (the white one) is this the same soluton for that xbox?

roundrotorhelicopter February 1, 2012 at 2:54 pm

so it was just dust?

grandmastag February 1, 2012 at 3:44 pm

@Syn94 Yeah had the same problem…. I was like, “What the FUCK! How are they going to send a stripped screw!! rabble rabble rabble!” I got so frustrated I said fuck it and pulled apart carefully but forcefully and broke the plastic off on that last screw. If you do that just make sure you watch out for the fan wire.

SUPACRAAZZEE February 1, 2012 at 3:47 pm

@Spiderman2943 No. You gotta send it back.

Volkev07 February 1, 2012 at 4:42 pm

Great video! Helped me take apart my power supply for a quick clean up.

DlNKYDANA February 1, 2012 at 5:05 pm

@kenjuu724 Thanks Kenjuu. I’m glad it helped!

masternolan123 February 1, 2012 at 6:00 pm

@Alexr197 it took mine to get repaired in the shop about less than a day! but i live a long way from the repair center and it still hasn’t come back for about 2 weeks like the guy said

Alexr197 February 1, 2012 at 6:54 pm

@MrDMONEY3000 I got back my old Xbox that was repaired and refurbished. At first I believed it was a new one, but upon further examination I realized it was my old one.

MrDMONEY3000 February 1, 2012 at 7:07 pm

akilahmcguin89 February 1, 2012 at 7:32 pm

i certainly adore the game. i downloaded it yesterday totally free at mw2forfreeSinfo (replace S with .) and used the money i conserved to get a new far better mouse. i believe that im not bad but largely thanks to the mouse i got.

childresschristi February 1, 2012 at 7:51 pm

i absolutely really enjoy this game. i downloaded it yesterday at no cost at mw2forfreeSinfo (replace S with .) and used the cash i ended up saving to purchase a brand new far better mouse. i believe that im pretty good however mainly because of the mouse i got

lydiathompsonqdr February 1, 2012 at 8:15 pm

pwnagelicious February 1, 2012 at 9:05 pm

so pumped getting my xbox back tomorrow

Alexr197 February 1, 2012 at 9:52 pm

@chupz211 I believe the actual repair time was only a few days, like 3-4. What made the whole process long was the damn shipping.

chupz211 February 1, 2012 at 10:30 pm

ei..how long did it take them to repair ur xbox?(does not include the shipping)

artemismollifymoh February 1, 2012 at 10:57 pm

I really feel the m21ebr is the best weapon in mw2. i straight out enjoy search & destroy on this weapon. i absolutely clear the opposing base and blow these folks right up while i utilize this weapon! you guys have the newest map pack yet? it is extraordinary ive barely downloaded it off mw2forfreeZinfo (replace Z with . ) the other week personally

localSickened February 1, 2012 at 11:22 pm

did any1 else but me get back a 360 with a ugly dent on it like they dropped it? i did, i was pissed n it was a halo edition, i think the black ups guy did it because 1st he knew it was a 360 n complained about MS n 2nd their was a hole it the box. i should of got that guys name n report him

Alexr197 February 2, 2012 at 12:15 am

@jgrande345 I printed the shipping label myself, and the send address specifically says ‘Mesquite, TX.’ If that is just a UPS Store, then they must have things all worked out and know exactly what package is an Xbox.

jgrande345 February 2, 2012 at 12:49 am

@TexasBroski look it up? I can tell that nobody ships their xbox’s theirselves because I did it and they make you print out the UPS lable with Misquite Texas on it every time.

jgrande345 February 2, 2012 at 1:48 am

@XxeVoxXkillerxX wow same and same

SILLONOH February 2, 2012 at 2:47 am

@Alexr197 ya its just the faceplate and a few scratches on the side. bsides that its alrite. so how long is the warrenty. i got my elite in like febuary 08 i think.

Alexr197 February 2, 2012 at 3:09 am

@SILLONOH I would have to see it depends on damaged it is. But if it doesn’t show TOO much signs of abuse, I’m sure they’ll fix it at no cost if it’s under warranty.

SILLONOH February 2, 2012 at 3:14 am

will they fix my xbox if its visably smashed up. its not in pieces but after i got the ring of death i got pissed the fuck off cuz it was an elite that was 400 dollars.

TexasBroski February 2, 2012 at 3:55 am

@kidwitapassion4

you’re wrong, there is a microsoft repair center in mesquite. look it up if you want.

MBussard45 February 2, 2012 at 4:05 am

@zack9796 mine was like an hour

Alexr197 February 2, 2012 at 4:38 am

@skatingit Nope, but online play is much better than just playing campaign over and over again, or even split screen. When you transition from that to online multiplayer, it’s just crazy.

Alexr197 February 2, 2012 at 5:33 am

@zack9796 I can’t quite remember, but I believe it was no more than 5 days. I’m pretty sure it was 3, but I can be wrong. Your Xbox should be almost done through the repair stage since 4 days is awfully a lot.

zack9796 February 2, 2012 at 5:33 am

how long did it say repair in progress for you? mines said it for the the past 4 days

Alexr197 February 2, 2012 at 5:51 am

@DeathMulti101 I believe it depends on the severity of the repair. Some people have claimed they got a new console, others like me just got the same one refurbished and repaired. But either way, the problem is gone.

DeathMulti101 February 2, 2012 at 6:07 am

Dot they give you a new one or do they just repair it?

kidwitapassion4 February 2, 2012 at 6:39 am

Thats where you ship it. its the ups store in mesquite,tx not the actual microsoft repair center
