I believe this is because the the round magnet on the “spinning thingy” has come unglued…..not the magnet on top. Simple fix glue it back on with super glue. This sometime happens when you console gets hot for a long period of time. If you want to prevent this from happening again please watch the xbox 360 maintenance vids on my channel. its the the laser in the system that makes that noise dude.
i think its because the CD/DVD tray has come loss.. my pc sounded like that and i screwed the tray a little harder in place and it stopped..
a friend of mine had the same problem and when he putted it in the standing position the noise stopped
why xbox fanboys buy a new xbox after the xbox is broken. they should learn that they have to buy ps3

@Synkro834834 well basically there is something blocking the lens of your dvd drive you can open the disc tray and blow through and blow about 6-7 times quite hard so you can clear it or you can shake or tap you xbox lightly . Good luck p.s. It best to steer clear of compressed air .you could get a fan to blow the dust to.
Does your xbox still work? If this book tells you to replace the xclamps with bolts,
don’t do it. It will eventually damage your box beyond repair.

@Marcelg13 it just over heated i think. leave it alone for a while then try again later once it is cooled off.
@swordpalme 2 years no problems. but i guess it depends on how you trat your console and random variables.
i have had my 360 for 2 years ad i have only had minor issues such as it sometimes not recognising a disk when its in the tray but my main problem at the moment is when i watch a dvd the audio will randomly become jumpy and broken up or cut out entirely i can fix this easily by pausing the dvd then playing it but i would rather eliminate the problem entirely so if anyone can help me that would be great.
